Dalinian Triangle

The Dalinian Triangle is the geometric figure that would appear on a map of Catalonia if we drew a line between the municipalities of Púbol, Portlligat and Figueres. These three towns tell us about the career of Salvador Dalí, an artist of international prominence, but totally linked to his territory.

This space concentrated in an area of only 40 km² contains the elements that make up the Dalinian universe: museums, landscape, light, architecture, orography, customs, legends, gastronomy. The Dalinian Triangle allows you to explore the universe of Dalí.

Púbol
Here is the old medieval castle that Dalí bought and gave to his wife Gala in 1969. With the acquisition of the Púbol castle and the subsequent renovation, Salvador Dalí fulfilled the promise he had made to Gala to make her the queen of a castle. The Gala-Dalí Castle House-Museum in Púbol was to be the refuge of the painter’s muse, who devoted a great deal of creative effort to its restoration and decoration.

Figueres
In Figueres is the Dalí Theatre-Museum, located in a neoclassical building, built between 1848 and 1850 as an Italian-style theatre, which was restored and renovated by Dalí, turning it into a surrealist monument. It consists of three distinct spaces: the Dalí Theatre, the Galatea Tower, the Dalí-Joies exhibition hall, the Mae West room, the Palau del Vent, the monument to Francesc Pujols or the rainy Cadillac.

Cadaqués-Portlligat
A former fishermen’s hut in Portlligat, where Salvador Dalí settled in 1930 and lived and worked until 1982. Starting from the initial construction, the painter gradually acquired other similar huts and, over the course of forty years, defined what would become the current house, which he spoke of as “a true biological structure”. It was his residence and workshop, with the artist’s furniture and personal objects.

The surrealist tour takes you through Dalí’s workshop, library, private rooms, garden and swimming pool. The complex tries to keep things as they were when the genius from Empordà lived there. Also of interest is the bay of Portlligat, a peaceful space sheltered from the roughest sea.

Venture out to explore the Dalinian triangle by staying in one of our holiday homes in the area!

From here, we can complete the route with a series of excursions through the Cap de Creus Natural Park. Its paths and trails will allow us to enjoy its landscapes of cliffs and coves, and the cultural attractions that its towns have.
